CHAM POEG. Ore.. Sept. 25.-4 (Special) The Herren - clan composed of the lineal descend dants of John and Docla Herren, pioneers of 1818, met for Its an nual reunion at Champoeg park; on Sunday. Sept. 23. The families represented were children and grand children of Job. Noah and Levi Herren, Bertha' Herren Clark and Eliza beth Herren Hastay. One Pioneer Present The last surviving danghter-in law of the pioneer John Herren also was present: Mrs. Ellen Mathews Herren, herself a pion er of 1SS2. Many were unable to be pres ent, and letters of regret were read at the close of the banquet. which was spread under the beau tiful trees of the park. There were 25 members of the elan seated at the table, which was placed at the corner of Dibble avenne and Patterson Way. Nothinr was lacking on the hearllT laden board: a veritable Robin Hood feast with roast ren laon from southern Oregon for the opening coarse. At the business meeting Horace Herren of Salem was elected resident of the organisation for the coming year; Flora Herren Bailey of Tigard was reelected secretary and Elva Herren Estes assistant secretary. Mrs. Homer Prouty of Portland and Mrs. F. M. He will spend the winter at tending Oregon Agricultural col lege. Bernard was presented with a gold watch last spring when he graduated from the Salejn high school for the superior grade of work he had done In mechanical drawing and in the machine shop. He will continue with this line of work at O. A. C. Marion County Child Health bu reau of Salem returned Sunday from the Pendleton round-up. She motored there with some peo ple who work with her in the clin ic, and they saw the pageant as well as the round-up. Mrs. Warren B. Baker of Edge water Court had three guests from Portland Monday for luncheon. In the afternoon they attended the State Fair. Mrs. Baker said that practically ererthing was finish ed and they enjoyed the afternoon. Cement is being hauled to the new well of the West Salem water supply to make a foundation for a pump that is to be installed. Charles Ruge. water supervisor, says that this Is the fourth pump at the wells and of itself will have a capacity of 20.000 gallons an hour. There is already one small pump on the new well, and two pumps on the old one. The West Salem bus has again changed its schedule running dur ing the rush hours with greater frequency than in the quiet part of the' day. The route also' has been changed starting from Edge water and Kingwood avenue and goin along Edgewater to the Polk county bridge as before, but fol lowing a different route In Salem and on the retwrn trip In West Salem.
