I II II Mm At m& Tlieaters When the management of the Elslnore theatre announced that its feature picture. "The Strange Case of Captain Ramper," was mysterious and unusual they told! the truth. Viewed by the writer Sunday night that weird film sent cold shivers up and down his splae. Its a great picture no doubt abont that. It has the poa derons technique of the German cinema, but it is antque and re markable. It's the sort of pro duction that gives - one bad dreams. If yon get what I mean. One recalls it with the same sen sations of spooklness left by "The Bat" and "The Cat and the Ca nary." Certainly it carries a punch. At tills time it has a spe cial appeal, for the memory of Amundsen's terrible fate is fresh in our minds. An attempt to de scribe this picture here would be absurd. But it's worth going to see. Just to take the taste of trag edy out of the mouths of the audi ence, Eddie Peabody and his "Banjoys" complete a really ex cellent bill. Eddie is better than ever, full of pep and even more so of music which he spills in lib eral, pleasing splashes. Robert Zeigler, pianist, is far better than one has a right to expect in fact!at the SalemjGeneral hospital he Is a master of the most difficult of all instruments. Finding him on a "jazz" program comes as a i?lt but a pleasant jolt. Seldom does one hear a performer of Zeigler's ability. Hopping to the other extreme and Eddie does hop comes Pea body's inimitable performance. He's better and cleverer than ever. There's real music in Eddie, too don't let anyone tell you different. Violin, mandolin, guitar, banjo it's all the same to him. True, he had a hard time trying to pay "Old Folks At Home" (presumably Swanee River) Sunday night, but he did play two old favorites, "Kentucky Home" and "Old Black Joe" instead," topping off with me SC. Louis Blues" whlrh ha literally tore into rags. That lad can oanjo and HOW! Jlmm, Maizel, his "pal is almost as good. It's a fine show and re mains here through Wednesday. TOM AKERS. Sir H.
