In a speech, Tuesday, at Bur lington he said he had no doubt that "most of my friends and sup porters would vote for Al Smith for president." The senator, quoted last night as having endorsed Governor , Smith, declared he had been mis quoted and he had said nothing that "could be interpreted as a personal endorsement of Govern or Smith." i He said he was waiting for an I expression of Hoover's attitude on the Blaine bill to prevent federal judges from issuing Iabo rinj unc tions, before making the decision of whom he would support. Death Prediction Found True One HOLLYWOOD. Cal.. Aug. 30. (AP) A strange premonition of death today came true for Frank Bangs, photographer of the fash ionable and film notables of New York and Hollywood for many years. Banks was found dead in his bed at the Isthmus of Santa Catalina Island where he had gone on location with his friend, Richard Barthelmess. Re ports from the island said death was due either to a heart ailment or acute indigestion. Because of that premonition of death. Plans! for rebuilding have not been considered, as there would! be no opportunity to resume dry ing operations this year, he said. Vernonia Bank Robber Begins Term at Prison , R. E. Doone, who pleaded guilty Tuesday to robbing a bank at Vernonia, was dressed in at the Oregon state penitentiary here Wednesday. He is under 20 years sentence. Officials said he would be assigned to employment in the flax mill. . Doone robbed the bank in day light, after compelling the cashier and other employes to enter the vault. He later was captured. Doone refused to discuss the crime, other than to admit that he had made a grave mistake. Hoover's Vote Is Estimated to Be 276 By Mr. Moses NEW YORK, Aug. 30. (AP) Senator George H. Moses, east ern director of the Hoover-Curtis campaign, asserted today that Hoover's electoral rote would not fall below 276, or ten more .than the number of votes required to elect. He ridiculed John J. A. announ ced yesterday that classes in vol ley ball would be formed lmme diately, and would continue throughout the fall season. Swim ming classes for both boys and men also are being formed now. On September 10 men's gym classes will begin and will meet; every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. A gy mclass for older men will be formed the first of Octo ber and will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Plana for a noon swimming or gym class are being considered. Mr. Markuson report ed that such classes have been popular with business men in oth er cities in the west.
