debate the merits of their favor
ites. In accordance with the tradi

horde which will swarm the downs

The names most heard about
the fires were Fairway, Sunny
and Flamingo.

Fairway remained the prime fa
vorite. Lord Derby's colt galloped
six furlongs today showing a fine
burst of speed in the final work
out, that brought joy to tbe heart
of his Jockey, Tommy Weston.

of the derby meeting today and
the sovereign will tomorrow be
accompanied by the queen and
most of the royal family to grace
the gala event.

Brad haw Harrison, Oregon state
tennis champion,
of Oregon team member, with
Stanley . Almquist and Sherman
Lockwood, both University of
Oregon men, will represent the
Tacoma Lawn Tennis club in
tournaments this season; -The an
nouncement was made here today.
It had been expected the Oregon
men would represent some club
from this state. The Webfoot
stars, outstanding placers of the
state, will leave Monday for Ta
coma.
A question orer the residential
sligibility of the three men pre
vented them from competing for
any Oregon club, Harrison said.
This difficulty was not encounter
ed in Washington, the players
said, adding that word to that ef
fect was received here today from
Walter C. Griffith of the Tacoma
club.
Harrison transferred to Ore
gon from the University of Cali
fornia, and was ineligible for var
sity competition this season. He
now holds the Washington, north
west, California and Oregon sin
gles titles.
The first tournament in which
the players will represent Tacoma
will be the Star-Reynolds chal
lenge matches in Seattle.
