Still Rages
Yes, we hare bananas: bunch
after bunch of 'em. That might
well be the cry of local food mer
chants, for, if you hare noticed,
for the past week now things hare
been happening in the banana
world.
Which is a long way of saying
that there's no more peace on
banana row; prices hare been cut
and slashed, till one can buy ba
nanas, almost at his own price.
Good banana, too. In most In
stances and not like the cheap
ones In normal days.
Not so many days) ago. It was a
real bargain to bay three pounds
for one two-bit piece, thin or
otherwise'.
Now, that same money will buy
a whole dosen good grade ripe
fruit. Some grocers are selling
what the use of trying to guote
prices when they're apt U change
for the better (12 you're standing
In front of the counter) before
the paper's out.
The shippers, of course, started
the battle, and about all the mer
chant can do, is to fall in line.
