Baxter of Portland attended the funeral of the late Frank Morrison on Monday, then after visiting his nephew, Clair Baker, general yardmaster of the Southern Pacific, returned t o Portland yesterday. Tuesday Prof essor Baker has just completed 57 years of continuous service as teacher in the Oregon public schools. He served as principal of one, of the Salem schools for a period of four years. The last four years he has been principal of the Shaver school at Portland, retir ing from active service January 1. 1928. Professor Baker is an Oregon pioneer crossing the plains with ox teams in 1854.
