It's in the air and you can almost feel it. Farm land is coming back. If you do not believe farm val ues near Salem are advanc ing, just compare present prices with those of a few years ago. Sure, the pessimists said Salem was all through building at the close of 1925, when total building permits for that year amounted to $1,794,935. And they said the same thing at the close of 1926 with Salem build ing permits reaching the high peak of $2,904,104. And again the same when permits for 1927 in Salem amounted to $2,- 626,427. And yet Salem starts the year 1928 with $118,650 building permits in January. Contractors say there is already a big demand for homes an d plans for large buildings in Salem. Bridge building is going right along and sewer Improvements. There will be more blocks of streets paved In Salem this year than ever before. Also more blocks of sewers. Mnrp siihnrhan homes will be erected near Salem this year than any year i n its history. No city of its size in the entire northwest has been building as rapidly as Salem. Statistics prove this. WHY ALL THIS BUILDING? Because there is no city in the northwest w ith the resources of Salem, and no city, in the northwest surrounded by a farming country with such resources.
