Burrell entered their sanctum and asked to be loaned a thousand dol lars. None, of the county commis sioners made any haste in. reach ing for their cheek books. Instead, they relaxed In their chairs, while they listened' to a long harrangue by BurrelL The stranger stated that he was a song and dance man and general all round entertainer and wanted someone to finance him while he toured the country with his stage act. He offered to sing for the court, but Judge Selgmund feared it might disrupt business all through the court house. Then he offered to do a little dance; Ha only got fairly started when, he stepped on John Porter's toe; and John has a bunion on that foot. That ended the dance. Burrell left in disgust. Pierce Wright, former police officer in Salem, was arrested in Portland Tuesday by Chief of ' Po lice Warren of Oregon City. Wright was secretly indicted by the Clackamas county grand jury on a charge of passing worthless checks.
