Dissolve gelatin in cold water. Boil together the sugar and wat er and pour over the dissolved gelatin and beat until cold. Add stiffly whipped cream, also nuts andeandied fruits. Bake an angel food cake in a loaf, cut off top and remove inside. Fill with Charlotte Russe and replace top. When ready, to serve, garnish with whipped cream and slice as you oma ice cream. Mrs. Hattie Cameron read a eulogy on the life of Mrs. Hattie Patterson, a member of the gsoup, whose death occured last week. T-lCM'ackgroi rst Congregational Church Resume Evening Services The first evening service of the fall will be held this evening at the First Congregational Church. The service will be in the form of an illustrated lecture on the relig ious work which has been done among the Indians of North Amer ica. A number of inspiring pictures have been selected for the Sunday evening programs this winter. The film, "One Increasing Purpose," will be shown next-week. Mr. and Mrs. Spaulding Vere mar ried a few weeks ago at the home of Mrs. Fletcher's parents, Rev. and Mrs. Frank Spaulding, at Cascade Locks. Both young people are grad uates of Willamette University and have a great many friends who are pleased to learn of their return to" Salem. Mr. Fletcher is a member of the faculty at Par rish Junior High School. ! Jlntterfly Linene Shoppe Will Open in Salem The "Butterfly Linene Shoppe," which is located at 375 North High street, will be for mally opened to the public to morrow morning. The shop will carry imported linen goods of all types, Imported oriental goods, and a complete line of boutonneires, earrings, handkerchiefs, and im'ibation flowers, as well as many other novelties. A number of the clever stuffed toys, which will be carried in stock, will be made in Salem. The interior of the shop is fin ished most attractively. Small tables in the window display a few of the lovely things which the shop will sell. Two long jilass cases, one on either side of the entrice contains other at tractive suggestions. Attend Conference in Salem Mr. and Mrs. Frank Spaulding of Cascade Locks have been at tending the Oregon Conference of the Methodist church. Oregon Congress of Parents and Teachers Will Sponsor Kindergarten The Oregon Congress of Parents and Teachers will sponsor a kin dergarten and nursery at the Ore gon State Fair whic h will begin ; tomorrow at the fair grounds in Salem. Mrs. George Wenderoth is state chairman of the fair work. The kindergarten, which will be maintained in the Educational Building, will be for the children of the campers. The hours will be from nine thirty until eleven forty-five in the morning. There will be supervised play in the af ternoon from one thirty until four. Mrs. De Vorc will have charge of the kindergarten classes and the nursery will be under the sup ervision of Mrs. Josephine Butts. Mrs. C. C. Gabriel, of Portland, state president of the congress, is expected to be at the booth Thursday.
