Annual Horse Show Wtil
Open In Salem Next
Week
, The anual horse show which
has become one of the outstand
ing features of the Oregon "state
fair, will be held in the stadium,
beginning next Monday , evening
and continuing the five remaining
evenings' of the fair, and as 8 re-
suit horse owners and horse lov-
ers of the Pacific Northwest are
turning their attention to Salem.
Reports - of prize winning
horses which will be shown here
are ifoeing received daily.. Compe
tition in all classes promises to
be keener this year than at any
local showing heretofore. Gov
ernor Isaac Lee Patterson, W. F.
Turner, and Aaron M. Frank have
offered prizes In -various classifi
cations. ;
ltuch Interest is evinced in the
splendid new' hackney pair, Stel
la Vane and Buckley Vedie, im:
ported recently from England by
Aaron MV Frank of Portland. This
pair" easily outclassed all other en
trants 'at their first American
showing at the annual horse show
held late In the summer in Stock
ton, California.

Season With Luncheon
The Salem branch of the Amer
ican, Association of University
Women opened the fall season
with a luncheon Saturday at the

the club, announced that the two
regular study classes of the
