Four Fatalities In Week-
There were four fatalities In
Cregon due to industrial accidents
during the week ending September
8, according to a report prepared
' here today by the state industrial
accident commission. The victims
were Carl E. Nelson, Tillamook,

land, 'chaser; Raymond Monroe,
Powers, railroad worker, and Lars
C. Hoyt, Harrisburg, shingler
There were 94 accidents reported
to the commission during the

New Eye Expert
A new -doctor of optometry has
been added to the staff of the
Morris Optical company in the
person of R. Dougherty, Opt. D.
Miss Dougherty, now entitled to
use the word "Doctor" before her
name, completed a two year
course in optometry this summer
and was successful in passing the
annual examinations of the statae
board of optometry examiners.
Out of 8 who took the examina
tions there were only two, one
other beside herself, who passed.
From now -on Dr. Dougherty is
to be a regular member of the
staff of the Morris Optical com
pany.
Jersey Club to leet
The Marion County Jersey club
will hold its first regular meet-
ign following the summer vaca
tion, in the chamber of commerce
rooms today at 1:30, it was an
nounced. Plans for the clubs
showing at the Oregon State fair
will be discussed, it was said.
Stolen Car Only Borrowed
The Hudson coach belonging to
J. L. Potter reported as stolen
from, its parking place near Chem
eketa and Capitol streets, was
only borrowed by one of the con
tractors working on the new ap
artment house near there, police
learned.

Child Runs Into Car
A child about five years old,
whose last name was given as
McRae, but whose first name was
not learned, was slightly bruised,
although he ran away with some
other children afterwards, when
he ran into the street on North
Commercial yesterday and was
struck by the car of A. L. Lamb
of Gervais, Lamb reported to the
Salem police. The child was
struck by the front fender of the
car, and knocked to the ground.
Lamb said. After giving his last
name, he ran on with the others.
His knees were bruised slightly.

call at 11:57 yesterday morning
to extinguish a grass fire at 16th

lowing the recent rains.
Car Damaged In Collision
The auto belonging to I. F.
Koch, Fairview avenue, received
extensive damages when a car
bearing license number 225-625
crashed into it at the intersection
of High and Court streets, hitting
it broadside about 9:20 last
night Koch was traveling
about 12 miles an hour, he report
ed to police. The other driver
was no! watching the street, he
he said.
