Xanten, better known as Jeanette Byer Xanten, has been awarded a summer scholarship for her work with Richard Hageman, New York vocal coach', who is conduct ing master, classes in Chicago. This news has Just been received in Portland by Airs. W. K. Scott, Mrs., Xanten's mother. ; Mr. and Mrs. Xanten went east about two .months ago when Mr. Xanten was transferred to Spring field, Iill.
