Where could you find a country that offered so great a

Regular Farming
WHEAT: If you arc a wheat tanner, you will find
in the Salem district about 50000 acres in wheat.
CORN: If you want corn, you will find about 15.000
acres planted in corn in Marion and Polk counties.
HAY: If H is hay. the farmer will find more than
70,000 acres in bay in the Salem district, and it will
be fine hay this year.'
POTATOES: If the farmer coming here wants to
plant potatoes, he will find more than 6,000 acres
planted within the Salem district. The Oregon Bur
bank is the finest potato in the world.
OATS: The Oregon 'Gray or winter oats is the finest
milling oats grown in the United States and brings
15 cents a bushel premium for No. 1. In the Salem
district, the farmer will find 64,500 acres planted
to oats.
CLOVER: Oregon clover seed grown in , the Salem
district is recognized as, the best clover seed grown
In the United States. The acreage this year in Mar
ion and Polk counties will exceed 24.000. ,
ONIONS: Onions grown in the Salem district are
quoted at a premium. Fully 85-per cent of the
onion sets sold on the Pacific coast are grown in
the Salem -district. f I
FLAX: Any farmer that can grow, wheat can grow
flax. Land is plowed and cultivated about the same
way. Flax is sowed with a ..broadcast seeder or
drill. If you select good land for flax, yon will
- make more money than growing wheat.
PEPPERMINT: Any farmer can grow peppermint.
Roots ere planted in rows about four inches deep
and three feet apart. Cultivate like corn or pota
toes the first year. It
is cut like hay. allow
ed to cure and then
taken to a pepper
mint still.
PRUNES: The packers and growers are now getting
together and its a sure thing that prunes are coming
back.
