Making a Good Start Under ordinary conditions, Salem should have from 10 to 'conventions every year. Grand Army Encampment, June 21-24. Oregon State letter Carriers' Ass'n., June 2.-27. Oregon Xut Growers Association, next December. when It comes to meeting places, " With the completion of the new Terminal hotel, there will be more than 400 hotel rooms available. And then in the case of large conventions, such as the G. A. R. State Encampment, rooms are available in 500 homes in the city at prices averaging from $1.50 to $2.00 a room, according to accommodations. WHY SALKM IS A LOGICAL COXVEXTIOX CITY Salem is ia the center of the Willamette valley. There are about 900,000 people in Oregon, and 600, 000 of these people live in. the Willamette valley, within an hour or two ride of the capital city. Salem has the facilities for handling the largest of conventions. With the House of Representatives, the armory and the Chamber, of Commerce rooms, the city is prepared to handle the largest of conventions DO VISITORS LIKE SALEM? All reports from delegates who attended the State Parent Teachers meeting in Salem a few months ago, and then the state plumbers just a week or so ago, indicate that delegates not only like to come to Salem, but are given most courteous and generous attention. It is a fact that when conventions do come to Salem, our people do take the time to give visitors a most agreeable reception. It is a fact that delegates attending conventions in Salem, return to their homes with a good word for the capital city. Good will is an asset in business.
