Montana Club Holds
Enjoyable Meeting
Plans Discussed for Holding lUg
Picnic Sometime in July
Over two hundred former resi
dents of Montana, met at the
Union Hall last evening, where
they partook of a potluck dinner.
After the dinner 18 members were
introduced. A lively business ses
sion was held and plans for the
big Montana picnic discussed. This
picnic will be held about the mid
dle of July and from the' assur
ance of cooperation that the club
has received from other cities and
towns it now looks as though it
would be the largest gathering of
Montana people ever held in the
state of Oregon.
C. F. Gillette, the president,
says the club has been as u red that
H. R. Cunningham, one of Mon
tana' best kown orators will
make the trip from Montana to
speak at the picnic.
A committee of eight consisting
of Dana E. Marshall. W. L. Mc
Cafferty, James Coate, F. D.
Clarke, H. A. Dakin. R. L. Gib
bins, E. W. Harland, and J. E.
Summers, have been appointed as
a committee to see to the arrange
ments. There will be a whole day
of fun. A program consisting of
speaking, sports and games. It is
planned not to have a dull minute.
After the business' the meeting
was turned over to the young peo
ple who furnished the entertain
ment for the evening, the most of
which was original and kept the
crowd in 'an uproar of laughter.
The program was a follows:

Before starting up. their car was
struck by a coach driven. by Frank
E. McCaslin of Portland who was
acebmpanied by his wife: McCas
lin claimed that he was blinded by
lights on the highway and was
unable to see the halted Warden
car. j ' .
Just a few minutes after the
first crash, J. C. Scollard of Port
land, driving a light closed car,
piled into the melee, causing ad
ciUional damage to the first two
enrp and putting his own car al
rnost beyond repair.'
Mrs. Warden received a fractur
ed arm and deep lacerations about
the seal pand face. Her husband's
'ce was peppered with broken
glass from the windshield and
glass enclosures. Both McCaslin
and his wife were showered with
broken glass and suffered painful
contusions. Scollard shared in
the shower of cut glass and re
ceived in addition a long, deep cut
in his lef below the knee.
The Wardens and McCaslins
were on their week-end vacations
with picnics planned for" today.
Scollard was driving to a funeral,
according to Dr. Gerald B. Smith
who was called to the scene of
the accident.
