This piston combines the superior properties of iron with the light weight advantages of aluminum. Total weight ofJthe entire pis ton assembly in the Eight is but 38.8 ounces. Including the dural umin rods another achievement in which Hupp engineers pioneer ed, i . Hupmobile engineers have pio neered into this type of construc tion so extensively that the crank- shaft of the Eight, for example, is 50 percent larger and stronger tnan the .average shaft. The re- ciprocating parts-r-pistons and connecting rod assembly are only half as heavy as these in common use, fut have even greater strength. Graham, representing the three Graham brothers who recently announced their plans for assuming control and management of the Paige-Detroit-Motor Car Company. At a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Paige company, May 3, a contract was entered into j between the company arid Messrs. Joseph B-, Robert C, and Ray A. Graham, which contract, when rat ified by the stoskholders of the company, will pass the controlling interest in, and the management of the company, to, the Graham, brothers. "We selected Paige to re-enter the motor car business," said Robert Graham, "first, 1 hecause the present Paige line of eights and sixes are fine cars which rep resent outstanding motor car values. This line of cars will be continued on the market through present Paige dealers. The public may buy Paige products today with greater confidence than ever before because of the added strength of the new management. We are putting four million dollars into the Paige business. and will follow with an additional four million as the development and expansion of the . business warrants. We will also" devote to it our full time and energies. We have behirid us twenty-five years of experience as manufacturers. We believe that success comes from building good goods effici ently and offering them to the public at fair prices. We are In the motor car business as manu- f facturers to stay. "The present Paige plant, com pleted within the last three years. ii thoroughly modern and ideally located. We intend to take full advantage of the opportunity for efficient manufacture. We will extend the facilities as the busi ness develops." Joseph B. Graham, who will be the new, head of the Paige com pany, was president . of Graham Brothers, and later vice-president in charge of production of Dodge Brothers, ie will give his full tiaie to the development of the Paige company to a place -in the forefront of the industry. Robert C , Graham, will be In general charge of Paige sales. He was formerly vice-president of Graham Brothers, and vice-president In charge of sales of Dodge Brothers. He will devote his en tire time to, the development of the Paige, business. Ray A. Graham, who was secretary-manager of Graham Brothers and general manager of ? Dodge Brothers, will also be active in the Paige business, particularly on the financial side. v He wilf-also re main lat, the head of the Graham J Brother Corporation of New York fcrtyv st'i - -' PAIGE WmtHIGH ..,:..; SPEEDS LEAD ALL '- - ; (Cwntiqaad from page 1.) . i "j .' -. The performance of the Graham Brothers truck in many months of service, during which it has gone from coast to coast and border to border, cross ing every mountain range in the United States, has been so satis factory to Sells-Floto that it has taken the place of a railroad car which was formerly considered necessary for the work. "Indicative of the favor in which the industry is held by the public are the. facts pertaining to. the expansion and development of our company which since early in 19 26 has been little short of phe nomenal. In some ways the re cord is unique. "The first quarter of 1927 was better than the company's budget foretold and its operations showed a net prorit. our Business, aur- ing this period, was 21)4 per cent greater than for the first three months of 1926. Judging from or ders on hand and reports from the field, we expect that the second quarter of this year will produce business 250 per cent greater than that of the first three months of the year. "Shipments during 1926 were several hundred per cent greater than in 1925 and shipments for the first quarter pt the present year were more than 200 per cent greater than for the same period in 1926. The shipments for the second quarter we expect will be more than two and one-half times as great as the first three months On January 1, 1927, our com pany, had three and a half times as many outlets throughout the country as on January 1, 1926. Since January 1st of this year new distributors and dealers have been added to the list at a more rapid rate, and at this particular time new outlets are being established at the rate of approximately 50 a week. "The more remarkable growth of Copeland Products, Incorporat ed, dates back to the reorganiza tion of the personnel which was effected in March 1926. At that time GeorgeVw.
