American Legion Plans Memorial Feature The American Legion and it3 auxiliary has arranged a miniature Flanders Field on the court house grounds. Lloyd Demarest had charge of placing the field. Annual Election of Officers Will Take Place at Meeting of Woman's Club Eight elective offices in the Salem Woman's club will be filled when the club meets at the club house this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock for the final meeting of the year. . The nominations were made during April and at the first meeting in May. Exhibit of McKinley School Work Will Be Held Saturday and Sunday An exhibit of the work done during the year in the shop, home economics and art departments , will be held Saturday and Sunday in a display window of the Miller Mercantile company. This exhibit will be ot particular interest to the friends and patrons of the 6chool. Miss Lillias Rowe Is Complimented With Shower Miss Lillias Rowe, whose mar riage to Harmon Garrett will take place early in June, was the in spiration for a kitchen shower last week at which Mr. and Mrs E. The meeting was in the nature of a farewell gathering for Mrs. Thompson, who will leave the first of the week for Utah, prior to locating in California, her fu ture home. Myrtle Collins, Anna Sim mons, and Sarah Drager. Spend Week-End in Eugene and Cottage Grove Mrs. lyiy Romaine and daugh ter. Betty, are spending the Me morial Day week-end in Cottage Grove. Last night they attended tho graduation exercises of Mrs. Romaine's sister. Mrs. H. W. Bross accompanied the Romaines as far as Eugene. She, too, will return to Salem on Monday. Socolofsky of Sa lem, has been appointed assist ant manager of the Webfoot, Uni versity of Oregon humorous pub lication. Mr. Socolofsky has been vice'president of at the university, the student body Memorial Dau Observed in Fitting Manner by McKwuey Students. A. jP. Rockford, a Veteran of Foreign Wars, was the principal speaker at the memorial exercises held yesterday at McKinley school. Representatives of other patriotic organizations were also present. Violin and piano numbers, with recitations, completed the pro gram. 1 Because of an inadequate as sembly hall, three programs were given in the various rooms, seve ral classes attending each pro gram. , Friends" and j patrons of the school will be interested to know that McKinley school has raised $40 for the Louise consolidates school of Mississippi.
