out two fines imposed upon him
for liquor law violations, who es
caped from the Polk county jail
here Monday night, has not yet
been apprehended, according to
Kluerif f Thomas B. Hooker. He
will probably be picked Up in a
couple of days, the Sheriff-stated,
as all his old haunts are being
watched, and many of his old
friends and connections are under
surveillance.
Mattox, who was a trufity at
the jail, cut his way through the
south brick wall with an axe
which he secured In tbe jire room.
The man left a letter saying that
he was getting out to secure
money to pay his fines.. The
lireak was discovered .by- the jailer
when he made the round about
8:30 Monday.evening. :
