state grange meet which is fn ses
sion in Corvallis. Mrs. W. P. Mc
Call, lecturer for the Brush college
group, is spending the week in
Corvallis. Yesterday she gave an
address on the subject of music.
Amigas Club Will Meet

tess on Thursday afternoon for
members of the Amigas club.

Will Meet Tonight
Members of the Amperette club
will entertain their husbands with
an evening of cards tonight at the j

Office in Woman's Army .

The election of Mrs. George A.
White to the -office of national
guard vice- president in the Army
and Navy League for Women will
be of interest Jn Salem. The Port
land Telegram names the officers

The annual meeting of the
Portland Woman's Army and Navy
League was held Monday after
noon at the University club, and
was attended by 50 army and navy
women. Following luncheon, the
annual election of officers was
held, and Mrs. G. W..C. Whiting,
who has been secretary treasurer
of the league for two years, was
elected president. Other officers
are: Regular army vice president,
Mrs. R. T. Colmer; navy vice pres
ident, Mrs. 0. K. Davis; reserve
vice president, Mrs. L. D. Howell;
naval reserve vice president, Mrs.

Part in Junior High
School Congress
Mrs. La Moine R. Clark, prin
cipal of the McKinley Junior high
school, has been invited to take
part in the discussion of the jun
ior high 3chool curriculum next
Saturday afternoon when the Ore
gon congress of junior high
schools is held in Eugene. The
conference will take place in the
education building, beginning at
3:30 o'clock. Following a dinner
in the evening the program will
continue.
The McKinley junior high school
in Salem ' has the distinction of
having had a, 100 per cent rating
in local, state and national teach
ers' associations for the past five
years, a record whfch fey schoels
in the state-have attained.

Mrs. Clifford Bowen will be

Convention in Portland
A joint meeting of the Baptist
City Missionary union. State Wo
man's society, Columbia River dis
trict and World Wide guild will
be held in the First Baptist church
(White Temple), Twelfth and
Taylor streets, Portland, Wednes
day and Thursday.
The city union will open the
meeting Wednesday at 9 a. m. with
Mrs. J. F. Huckleberry in charge
of the devotional service. City
and state reports will follow at
the business meeting. Lunch will
be served at noon in the' dining
room of the church. In the after
noon, addresses will be given by
Mr. J. H. Kerr, home vice presi
dent of the Columbia River dis
