ganization of the American Anode.

Goodrich Company. - the Eastman
Kodak Company and the Anode
Rubber Company, Ltd., of Great
Britain. -
This new organization has for
its purpose the ' development of
commercial production in the
United States of rubber goods
manufactured under the Klein and
Eastmanaprocess patents. ;
Processes covered by these pat
ents will, in many cases, practical
ly revolutionize the methods of
coumpotinding, milting ; and -vulcanizing
used today. -They are the
result of the- work of Dr. -Paul
Klein of Budapest and oC Drs.
S. E. Shepherd and L. W. Eberlin
of the Eastman Laboratory staff.
The new corporation draws into
one holding all of the develop
ments and United States patents
of all three Interests.
The. principle of the processes
controlled by this new corpora
tion, officials say, is the electroly
tic deposition of rubber on the
anode which serves as the mold
or form., methods of suspending
compounded ingredients in - the
latex have been perfected as well
as means for maintaining a con
stant concentration of the latex
mixture, without which the com
mercial development of the pro
cess was impossible.
It has long been known that the
milling - process in rubber manu
facture destroys to a certain ex
tent the .original .physical proper
ties of the tiny globules of rubber
The mastication of the raw coagu
lated rubber necessary to break
it up and permit thorough com
pounding, bruised the rubber par
ticles and destroyed much of their
natural adhesion and strength.
It is pointed out that the new
processes preserve the , original
qualities of the rubber, which is
compounded and molded without
heat. Greater durability and
strength are imparted to the rub
ber articles produced by this pro
cess, making impossible to im
prove greatly the quality of the
finished product and effect mater
ial savings in its manufacture.
The processes have been used
in the factory- of the Ungarische
Gummiwaaren - fabrics Actienge-
sellwchaft,' .Budapest, under the
direction, of Dr. Paul Klein, and
thorough tests have been made in
America in the laboratories - of
both the Eastman ..Kodak Com
pany and the B. F. Goodrich Com
pany. The new corporation has for its
directors Julius Klein, vice chair
man of the Hungarian General
Sachs, of Goldman Sachs Com
pany. New York; W. D. C Staber,
President of the Eastman K?dak
Company; F. W. Lovejoy-ji Vice

M. Davis, of Santa Monica, Cal.,
made a 14,000 mile trip tour from
his city this summer In a Chev
rolet coupe.
He traversed 21 states while
driving from the Pacific to the
Atlantic, touching Mexico and
Canada at several different points.
It was a 7 months trip.
Twelve enormous Chevrolet fac
tories are working full blast to
produce enough cars to meet the
1926-27 demand.
Announcement has been made
in San Francisco that with the
assistance of the Standard Oil
Company of California twenty
one symphony concerns are being
broadcasted every Sunday after
noon by Stations KGp, Oakland;
KPO. San Francisco, and KFI. Los
Angeles, constituting) one of the
greatest link-ups of rfadio stations
ever undertaken on the Pacific
Coast. .
Some weeks ago a public sub
scription was started ia San Fran
cisco for 125.000. Listeners of
me I'aciric Coast wem asked to
send in a contribution to this
fund, which was to be devoted to
protect the San Francisco Sym
phony Orchestra against loss in
box office receipts because of the
fact that concerts would be broad
casted. Approximately $15,000
was raised and the 'Standard Oil
Company of California agreed to
subscribe the sum necessary to
make the undertaking a reality.
In addition, the Standard Oil Cbm
pany has undertaken the expense
of transmitting all of these con
certs over telephone wires to KFI,
Los Angeles, in order that the
people of Southern California may
also have the benefit of these con
certs.
In order ' that radio listeners
may derive the fullest value and
enjoyment from the concerts, the
Standard Oil Company will make
available each week, at its Service
Stations programs Cor the concert
of the following Sunday. This pro
gram will not only list the com
positions to be played but will also
contain a description of each com
position, which will enable listen
ers to follow the music and better
understand the story the composer
wishes to tell. The program will
also contain a story, continued in
brief sections from week to week.
