personal charge of the state's case,
that she was employed by Mrs,
McPherson to produce false char
acters in the case.
The evangelist's day in court
was more of a trial than preceding
days. She appeared more sober
than before, a trifle paler and her
face showed unmistakable lines oi
worry. Whether this was because
of her mother's collapse or the
strain of the proceedings, was an
unanswered question.
Agnes McCarrell, official report
er for the discharged grand jury.
was called as a witness and iden
tified the transcript made before
that bo4y-and testified that it was
the AicPnerson testimony.
Keyes then began the reading
of the account. It was the same
story of kidnaping that the evan
gelist told when she came out of
the mesquite country below Dour-
las, Arizona, June 23. It con
tained hardly a line that has not
been printed, preached and told
over the Angelus temple radio.
Those fortunate enough to gain
entrance into the tiny court room
were developing distinct evidence
of being bored when just at 11:40
clock Attorney Clilliert rose
quickly and asked for a recess. It
was seen that Mrs. Kennedy was
ill. After a few minutes recess,
and the evangelist's mother was
not able to return. Judge Blake
recessed court until 2 p. rn.
