With the vogue for matching ensembles, one cveytyis

a raincoat in warmer weather, but those one sees continue to

Really tialored underwear is smart now for almost every
occasion except evening, when one may indulge in one s long

TIMES - have changed. A hat,
and a dress, and in cold weath
er a coat, and you "were dressed--
lt might 'be welt-dressed, isut .
now you cannot even. feel dressed, much less well dressed,1
without all the little trinkets and gadets we have become ac
customed to. Why I almost believe if I were to venture out
without some little ornament at my throat, I would catch cold,
and you were dressed it might be well-dressed. But now
you cannot even feel dressed, much less well dressed without
all the little trinkets and gadgets we haVe become accustomed
to. Why I almost believe if I were to venture out without
some little ornament "at my throat, I woul dcatch cold.
There are very few dresses, and those uncommonly high
necked, which one wears without some piece of jewelry at the
throat. "There are. first of all, the slave necklets often
matching" one' of the two or three slave chains displyaed on
the wrist. ; And since, these are worn close to the throat, al
mnof MiWinv tho riwvx thve must not contrast in color with
the dress. They tend rather, as do almost all accessories now,
nr lnt darker or lighter in shade. - The
gold and silver chains lacking the colored links may, of course,
be worn with any color.
With black (and black is fashionable again ne needs a bit

fcarved ornaments take all sorts of queer formsa snake
toiled on a rock may leer at you from one, a grinning satyr
from another. Jade is not the only medium used for them
all sorts of colored stones are seen. .
"Chokers" of anything except small pearls are very
basse. So, for that matter, are the larger strings of beads,
although really good strings of amber or corals or the like
never do lose favor: ; But pearls of all sorts and description
are unquestionably good. I saw one curious arrangement of
a long strand it was wound around the neck four or five

times, ?nd then all the strands were caught on one shoulder
with a large pin of grilliants.
Rrarplpts of everv descrmtion are worn in innumeraDie
