() CHANGES ARE ASKED IN GAME STATUTES (Continued from pa;c 1.) gesiion being to limit the number of deer killed to a single buck with forked horns. The law would proniou the killing of spiked bucks. it is proposed also to permit the sale of deer hides when the deer killed legally. Bear protection has been urged. Tne bruin is now protected in Josephine, Jackson and Klamath counties, where he may be killed only in .November. The new rul ing would extend this protection over the entire state. It is suggested that the bag limit of migratory birds be re dueed frdm 27, a day to 15 or perhaps 10. A closed season for several years for fur bearing auimals in eluding the beaver, martin, otter, and fisher, was suggested. The beaver, now protected in some counties aud in the national for ests, will be exterminated unless protection Is given, is the belief 01 hat. Avemi. ir closed season is established, protection will be allowed orchardists and farmers who in the. past have suffered from the beavers dam building activities. i Good Car Beavers ' Proposed fish law changes in clude opening the bass season through the year save in the spawning season. At present the season is open from June 15 to December 31 which does not permit pass fish ing at the best time , for game ristj and good eating. The new time would make the closed sea son extend from May 1 to July 1 only. Open season all year round has. been advocated for sunfisb, crappies and catfish. No suggestion as yet has been received for laws on the striped bass, a salt water fish and a new comer to Oregon which during the last year has been caught com mercially in Coose county. Another suggestion advocates the prohibition of the use of clams for crab bait, it being maintained that cormorants, fish eating birds, commonly known as shags, may be used for good crab bait. In all probability a bill to pro hibit the commercial canning of clams will be introduced into the legislature. Razor clams have been practically exterminated by the canning companies, the game warden said. Winning Hun booted on Kill! Horn'-.; : CkvHaiui Wins From Boston New York 2; Chicago 1 CHICAGO. July 31.
