homes, in the sense . of .better
dwellings, but better gardens and
better books are also. being consid
ered as phases of this country

High School Are Completing
Plans for Operetta
Preparations for the final per
formance of , the "Bells of Beau-
Jolais." (Bo-rho-lay) are being
rapidly shaped? this week by the
chorus classes of the Salem high
school. An artistic stage setting
and picturesque costumes are be
ing given special attention this
week. Students taking the parts
of special characters . are concen
trating upon portrayals through
the dialogues of the characteriza
tions so essential to the type of
musical play represented by this
year's production.
A number of the younger vocal
ists of the high school who have
not been- featured heretofore will
take part Friday evening. Charm'
ing young soprano voices of es
pecially sweet quality will be
