town in which aesthetic achieTe
ments are not prominent.
Gathrie, however, is the' center
of one of the unique musical or
ganizations in the world a sym
phony orchestra composed entirely
of 32nd degree Masons.
The second largest Masonic con
sistory in the world, In point of
membership, is located here. Its
roll of about 16,000 members in
elude some of . the leading musl
clans of the sate, and it is from
these that the orchestra tof twenty-six-
pieces is recruited.
The orchesrta. made its first ap
pearance in January with twenty
pieces. Its fnll ! force will be
represented for, the first time In
i-April, -when th next session of the
consistory will be held here. :
It is planned 'that-that orchestra
will play only at Masonic gather
ings.. -A big.ptpe organ so6n' will
be installed In the $3,000,000 con
sistory temple here, which Is ex
pected to add to j the orchestra's
