'.ease all hostilities and withdraw
behind their frontiers. It was
framed by Mr. Chamberlain after
the Greek representative, M. Cara
panos, had told the council that
the Greek troops would evacuate
Bulgarian soil a; soon as all the
Bulgarians got out of Greece and
after Bulgarian insistence that
Bulgarians are not on Greek soil
at all.
It declared the council was not
satisfied that military operations
had ceased and that the troops
8hould be withdrawn, and. after
retting a -2 4 hour issuance of in
structions of such withdrawal, the
council fixed 60 hours for assur
ance of the fulfillment of the or
ders. All the troops must be
warned that reiumption of firing
ill be visited with severe punish
ment and both governments, Ath
ens and Sofia, must give all fa
cilities to the military officers of
Great Britain, France and Italy
who will immediately repair to the
war zone and report to the council
whether the council's edict has
been carried out.
"And let it be carefully under
stood." said M: Briand, "that this
time limit runs from now. It will
not suffice to retire to the special
frontiers; there must be no s"hoot
ing from the frontiers."
M. Morloff, representing Bul
garia, said quietly:
"My government authorizes me
to conform unconditionally to any
invitation addressed to it."
M. Carapanos, like M. Morloff,,
seemed to shrink under the coun
cil's implied condemnation.
"1 have no objections," he said
almost inaudibly. "but I must
transmit the details to Athens. 1
think that my government will
comply.",
M. Briand, still weak from the
hemorrhage of the nose from
which he suffered earlier in the
day, ' again intervened, saying:
"We consider the words of both of
you encouraging. We shall now

The next meeting of the club
will be held on Monday, November
2. About 75 attended the meeting
last night which was- held in the
new hall of the St. Vincent de Paul
parish.
