RECORD DROUGHT OVER
ILWACO, Wash., Oct. 24. (By
Associated Press.) Following a
very heavy fog during yesterday
.evening and last night a fine rain
this morning broke the long dry
spell which old residents here
claim is the dryest summer and
'fall In 40 years. Weather bureau
records 'show this has been the
dryest October since 1884.
The total rainfall so far this
month has" been only .07 of an
inch, while the shortage for the
mdnth over the averages of the
'401-year period is five inches.
