Benefit Dinner Planned
- The combined Methodist church
es of Salem will hold a turkey
dinner in the First Methodist
Episcopal church Friday evening
for the benefit of the West Salem
Methodist Episcopal church. Every
article of food has been donated,
and all the proceeds of the dinner
will be turned over to the little
church. Dinner will be served
three times, between 5:30 and
7:45 o'clock and about 200 will
be accommodated at one time.
Over 500 tickets arc expected to
be sold.

Stage in Wreck-.
A Portland-Salem stage of the
Jess Wheaton stage line crashed
into a truck plying between Port
land and Roseburg' late Friday
night. According to Nick Milner;
driver of the stage, the truck was
stopped on the Highway pavement,
aad its lights were off. -A heavy
fog hindered Milner from seeing
the truck In jtime fo '-avoid the
smash. The stage was coming to
Salem from Portland, and the lo
cation of the wreck was about a
mile north tf Woodburn. There
were three women and three men
on the stage besides tbe driver, all
of whom were brulsd slightly, but
none injured seriously. The stage

Boys Hailed Before Court -
There were six boys up before
the county court Saturday on
charges of petty offenses, included
in which were forging small
checks and stealing bicycles. All
of the boys were pupils in the,
Salem schools. They were brought
up on separate charges, and were
