Harris on Friday afternoon to cel
ebrate his seventy-eighth birth
day. The Daughters of Veterans
presented him with a large birth
day cake. at this' time, a custom
they observe with, the birthday of
each veteran. The presentation

gates from' all parts of the coun
try will arrive the' middle of the
week to attend the supreme con
vention of the PEO sisterhood.
. The convention will open In
Minneapolis Tuesday and will
continue through Friday. As the
president of the Minnesota PEO.
Mrs. E. J. Gif ford,: resides In St
Paul, it is expected many St. Paul
members .will attend the supreme
session.
Alt sessions of the convention
will, be held at the Wesley Metho
dist church, while the headquar
ters will be at the Curtis hotel
Many social affairs have been
planned for the out-r-town guests
during the meeting, one of the
largest to be held in St. Paul when
a large tea,, will be given Thursday
at the University club following an
automobile tour of the "city. .
Mrs. Vina. Ives Bowden, Mis
souri, supreme president, arrived
Saturday and is in Minneapolis.
Two other prominent visitors are
Mrs. Winona Reeves, editor of the
Pecord, the official magazine of
the order, and; Mrs. Mary Allen
Stafford, Muscatine. Ia., one of
the two living charter members.
One of the chief matters of dis
cussion before the meeting will be
the erection of a memorial library
in honor of seven founders of the
society. It is expected the me
morial will be established on the
frounds of Iowa Wesleyan univer
sity at Mt. Pleasant where PEO
vas founded 55 years ago. The
