The second afternoon of classes
at the Salem Woman's club is
scheduled , for tomorrow after
noon, Monday, October 19, in the
club' house on North Cottage

conduct the class in Oregon His
tory. From 2: 45 to 3:30 o'clock,
Mrs. J." C- Nelson will lead the
class in literature. . One of the

of Professor S. B. Laughlin. head
of the sociological department at
Willamette University. '
On Friday. ' October 23. this
week :two additional classes will

Zhth Wedding Anniversary
The 35th' wedding anniversary
of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Mills was
celebrated in an unusually enjoy
able ; manner on Friday, October
16, with a dinner party at the at
tractive new home of Mr- and Mrs.
Waldo O. Mills on North Twenty-
first street. The occasion was not
only the wedding anniversary of
Mr. and Mrs. J.-A. Mills but also
the birthday of the honor guest

Angeles, a son, also celebrated his
wedding anniversary on this day.
One of the delightful Incidents of
the evening was the (telephone
greeting received from Harry "Q.

each guest having the opportunity
to speak a few words with the ab
sent guest . Beautiful red roses
were used in decorating the rooms
while the feature on the table was
the tiered anniversary cake. .

at 7 o'clock Friday morning when

gratulations in memory of the
wooden wedding celebration 30
years ago which she remem

and Mrs. T.. S. Roberts was the
scene of a delightful luncheon
Wednesday noon, honoring Mrs.
Carrie Louise Dunning of New
York, who is" sojourning in Port
land for a short time before going
on to Los Angeles.
' Motoring down from Portland
with her were Mrs. Kate Dell Mar-den,-
of ;the "' Marden-Dunning
school, Mrs. Herbert Bartholomew,
Mrs. L. H. Ockwlg and Miss Lulu
Arrester. The ' only, additional
guest, other than the host and
hostess, was Miss Cornelia Marvin
of the state library.
The house Was tastily decorated
throughout with autumn foliage
and chrysanthemums. The same
general effect with yellow (pre
dominating in the candies . and
flowers was carried out In the din
ing room where a dainty, three
course luncheon was served. After
a pleasant and informal afternoon
of; chatting and music the party
motored back to Portland.
Tea on Friday a Success
The scholarship loan tea. spon
sored by the Salem Woman's club
proved to he both a financial suc
cess and a delightful event socl
ally when several hundred women
called, on Friday at the club house
from 2:30 to 5 o'clock-
