the Joint meeting calls for the con
struction of both strips of high

the county for several months
When the county paving pro
gram was first announced, the
county court placed' the Falrflald
project on the list. A delegation
from Wood burn then appeared and
advanced 'arguments to show that
the four-mile gap- at Aral's corner
should also be surfaced. ' Their
request was granted by the county
court, and the matter was seem
ingly at an end. Later the same
delegation appeared and demand

Drunk Is Released
After being held In the city

C. A. Shupe, of Portland, was re
leased Friday upon order of Po
lice Judge Poulsen. Shupe was
arrested for being drunk.

Salem Woman Injured
When a Gardner sedan skidded
into a ditch 'near Woodburn Fri
day morning, Mrs. W. W. Emmons
received, severe bruises and a
minor 'scalp wound and Miss Lu
cile Emmons, her daughter, two
minor cuts. The other occupants
of the machine, Miss Lula Heist
and Miss Lina Heist,- were not in-,
jured. The party were motoring
to Portland when the accident oc
curred. . The automobile was bad

and go over the controversy.
It was at this meeting that the
county court was upheld in its
decision. Work on both roads will
start immediately. It was said by
county highway officials.

he is a Legion-member. He then
cashed a check at . the Scotch.
