The disappearance, of four men
from Monitor, ' a few miles north
of Silverton. late Sunday night
remains an unsolved . mystery at
rnidnight last night and it is , be
lieved that, the men have met with
foul play at the hands of the three
escaped convicts. ' All four men
are " responsible parties " have
steady - jobs and one was' ready to
start threshing today. . The "miss
ing menv are Leo .Wilde, .24, Loel
Lichte, 2$, Otto Lucht, 34, and
Lawrence Jacobs, 34, whose car is

Sunday night the men were at
the Dave Swanson combination
confectionery and pool room. " The
bwner was leaving for Portland
early Monday morning find asked
them to lock the door as all were
known to him. Wilde was heard
to park his automobile about mid
night by J. P. Jenson,, garage pro
prietor,, who Is sleeping in his es
tablishment while the convicts are
at large; The four men were play

"young Jaw girl"; went with .boys
but 'had suffered no real, affairs

'. The Elllngson ' girl, charged
with the murder of .her mother
here last : January was - declared
sane by Dr. Twitchell. who was
the first witness called, in rebuttal
by the prosecution after, the de
fense closed . its case. '
Half of the spectators in the
erewded courtroom were ordered
from the room by Superior Judge
Louderback. when they burst into
laughter during the testimony of
Dave Stein, host at a party attend
ed by Dorothy the night after Mrs.
Elllngson's murder, :
When questioned regarding de
tails of the party. Stein, a defease
witness, testified he remembered
little about the affair as he "had
been drunk for six -inonths."
The, remark drew such an out
burst of laughter that' the judge
ordered half of the spectators from
the' room. "This is not an enter
tainment,' but a murder trial," de
clared "Judge Louderback. '
