prosecution, in the case of three
men charged with having con
spired to kidnay Mary Pick ford,
film star, and hold her for a ran
som of $200,000, spent virtually
the whole of today's session pre
senting testimony designed to re
fute a defense,, contention that
confessions alleged to have been
made by the defendants were-obtained
through .the use of third
degree methods. j
Sharply contrasted with yester
day, when hundreds of persons
crowded the , hall of records to
catch a glimpse, of Mary Pickford
as she appeared In court, today's
session was dull and drab. Some
of the spectators even went to
sleep during the warm afternoon
in the courtroom which yesterCay
