members of the fraternal order of
the Maccabees will assemble here
Monday for the four davs quad
rennial convention of the order.
according to advance registrations
at Macabees headquarters here. -
An outstanding feature of the
convention is that virtually all the
10,000 delegate are expected to
arrive by automobile. During the
past 'year the fraternal order haa
been, preparing an international
automobile caravan to bring Its
members to the convention over
the motor highways from every
part of the United States and Can
ada. More than 2,000 automo
biles are registered for the cara
van. Tiiey will take part In a
parade July 20, which with its al
legorical floats and bands -in mo
tor cars is expected .to be the larg
est automobile parade ever-known
On the evening of July 20 will
be Che largest class Initiation ever
celebrated by a fraternal body,
5,000 candidates being taken Into
the order at once. At this conven
tion women members for the first
time will take part In the activ
ities of the Macabees, the order
having thrown open its doors : to
women June 1, with the installa
tion of Martha Washington Hive
No. 1 'in-Washington. The 200,-
000 men of the order are divided
into tents, there being 4.000 In all
parts of the United States and
Canada.
