night, and defeated the Papermak
ers by a score of 6 to 4. The
game went an extra inning, with
the score tied at 4 to 4.
An unusual featnre, of the game
was that two home runs were
scored on flukes. ; Gross, short
stop for the - Papermakers, and
Chapman of the Eagle team each
hit a shorts, pop to the field. In
both, cases the ball was lost in the
grass, and. both secured: home
runs. ' j
- The Papermakers scored first.
In the first inning, when two tal
lies were marked up. ? Green,
pitching for the j Eagles, . settled
down and afteij that allowed few

Hillsboro Sunday in what may be
the last game away from home this
season unless a game is played
later at Albany, which has taken
Vancouver's place in the league.
The Hillsboro team ia; In sec
ond place at present and a win for
them means serious complications
for the Senators. An earlier meet
ing of the two teams resulted in
a victory for the Senators.
Manager Frisco Edwards urges
that as many local fans as possible
make the trip to Hillsboro Sunday.
The game begins at 2:30 o'clock.

Dr. Hans Leonhartsberger, an
officer of the Austrian army dur
ing, the World war and engaged
in public health service at Vi
enna, Austria, has taken up work
in connection " with the Marion
county health demonstration, fit
was announced Thursday.
He is the only Austrian doctor
in the United States under the
auspices of the Commonwealth
fund, who recently established
two health centers In Austria. He
has been In this country since the
first of the year. Dr; Leonharts
berger will sail for home. August
15, leaving from New York. -
During the war Dr. Leonharts-
berger was assigned to an infantry
battalion on the Russian front in
a medical capacity. The Austrian
army. he. declares, has now been
reduced to 30,000 men.
Dr. Leonhartsberger ia much
impressed with the Salem district
which has ben a revelation as to
the prosperity of the farmers.
He stated that the scenery of the
state Is also a source of wonder,
particularly that around Mi. Hood.
2 Killed, 16 Hurt When
i Train Crashes at Forks
KENTON. Ohio, June 18. Two
persons were instantly killed and
16 injured when a Big Four pas
senger train struck an open aiding
and left the track at Grant, Ohio,
10 miles north of Kenton; at 4:45
p. m. today. C. C. Woodward. To
ledo, a train news "butcher" and
an unidentified man were killed.
The engine and three coaches
were derailed. Both the engineer
and fireman J were , severely in
jured, according to reports. The
train attains a speed of 70 miles
an hour at times. Relief was 3ent
from nearby cities.

tralia by winning a light heavy
weight wrestlinif match from Billy
Edwards; of Kansas City tonight.
He won two falls the first In 42
minutes with a combination of his
favorite wristlock and a hammer
lock. ; Edwards won the second
fall in 10 minutes, 30 seconds
with a headlock, and Thye took
the third and deciding fall in 9
minutes by. lifting his opponent
over his head and -slamming him.

reported a second attempt to shoot
him, following upon the incident
of Tuesday night when a man, be
lieved to be seekirfg revenge for
the indictment of twor gangsters,
fired at him in the county build
ing and missed.
Last night, as Curran was driv
ing home through the Italian dis
trict, two men on a street corner
suddenly drew revolvers and fired
four shots at him, then ran t a
parked car and-drove awayu Two

were hit. i
The officer said he was sur
prised by-the attack and instead
of returning the fire or pursulig,
drove until he met another police-
njfan. When the three returned
to the scene of the attack the car
