The Postal employees will meet
for a picnic today at the Rickere
all grove with others from the
Willamette valley postof fice.
About 200 persons are expected to
be present. All are to bring their
families and make a day of the
affair, and from all indications,
every one Is to do that thing. A
baseball game is slated between
the Eugene postoffice and the Sa
lem players. The challenge was
issued by the visiting team and
it is expected that a good game
will be played. The local postof
fice arranged a nine without any
trouble recently and practiced an
evening with the PEPs.

the City of Astoria, which asks
permission to appropriate water
from Youngs river for the develop

Forger Gets Reprieve

Governor Pierce Saturday issued
a 60-day reprieve to R. W. Orr,
Multnomah county, who was re
cently sentenced to serve not more
than two years in the penitentiary
for forgery. The reprieve was
urged by Judge Morrow, of Mult
nomah county, district attorneys
from Multnomah and .' Yamhill
counties and by the federal pro.

The Salem Kiwanis club will
hold their regular meeting Tues
day noon, although up to a late
hour the regular speaker had not
been named. Part of the pro
gram has been named, however,
and the music committee will put
on some new songs with the Ki
wanis double quartette. The club
meets each Tuesday at the Marion
Hotel.

Three Are Injured
Susie Lynn, Miss Randall and
Miss Weir were injured when two
automobiles collided on . the state
hospital grounds yesterday. None
of the injured persons was taken
to the hospital.
Two Men Jailed
Floyd Burson and Wayne Ray,
said by the police to be intoxicat
ed, were Jailed , last night after
they had been arrested -as they
came into, the. city from Polk
