The Canners association of the
Willamette valley met last nighti
at the Marion aotel where they
discussed a point of law brought
up by ' the Oregon labor commis
sion, pertaining to time payments.

yesterday . consigned to the Taci
fics Fruit and Produce company
from the Imperial Valley, the first
of the season. The carload is for
immediate distribution in the Wil
lamette"" valley adjacent to Salem.
Apricots have also arrived in the
city, but not ' in carload assign
ments.' It is said lemon prices
are due to take a drop.

Robert P. Scripps, director of
the Scripps-Howard syndicate and
owner, of 40 city newspapers, vis
ited in the city, yesterday. " He
stopped over while en: route from
San Diego. " He was bound for
Vancouver, B. C. He stated Salem

had passed through. Robert Mer
ryfield of San Diego was a travel

OAC Committee Xamed .
Three' students have" been ap
pointed to the Greater OAC coun
cil as a special committee to look
after OAC interests in Salem for
the coniing- year. 5 They are Rus-
sel . Pratt, chairman, Ruby Dreg
ger, " and Richard Schei. . The
Greater OAC council Is composed
of5 a chairman and two other
representatives from every impor
tant town in the state. ' It is or
ganized to carry out the work of
the Greater OAC Committee in
the various parts of the state, and
to promote the interest , in the col
lege among students and alumni.
