Divorce Is Sought "
; Lizzie Schindler has filed suit
for divorce from Alvin A. Schind
ler, alleging cruel and inhuman
treatment. They were married in
Vancouver. Wash.,-in April, 1922.
Mrs. Schindler declares that her
husband ' called her vile and nglv
names and , ! struck her several
times. She wishes to resume her
maiden name of Lizzie Blakely.

Paper Drive Success
The paper drive of the Lincoln
and McKinley schools was a de
cided success, and resulted in the
securing of $50, according to Mrs.

Committee. In the beginning the
two schools, planned to divide the
Fire Alarm Sounded .
A cigarette stub thrown care
lessly out the window of the U. S.
National bank building lit on a
canvas awning and began to
smoulder. An alarm was sound
ed and traffic was held up for a
few moments while the offending
cigarette was put out. Earlier in
the day a false alarm took the
fire department to North' Church.

The Scofield brothers held a re
union yesterday at the home of
Dr. H. B. Scofield at 180 South
Fifth, at which they honored theis
mother and father, Mr. and Mrs.
C. F. Scofield, who are to make
an extensive eastern tour. Those
present were the brothers and
their wives, who came from south
ern Oregon and other parts of the
Willamette valley. They were
Ray, John, Harry B:, Willis, Frank
and Lewis Scofield.

YMCA Preparing Schedule-
Activities at -the Salem YMCA
are in a stage of transition, in
which a schedule is -being fitted
to care for the kids that are out
of school. The old regime was
fitted for students who came down
after school. The new program
at present Is concerned with the
organization of the summer camp
at Neskbwln. where a party of Sa
lem and Marion county boys will
congregate for two weeks under
the direction of able YMCA ex
ecutives. When camp is over tho
boys here will be kept busy on a
program of baseball and sports.
