Trucks Are Active- :j
. Many trucks and conveyances
are coming into the city daily with
their loads of strawberries, which
the pleasant weather has allowed
the growers .'to pick'. The can
neries and barrelers hare been
getting in readiness for the rush
that they expected to follow ! the
spell of wet weather, which halted
operations in all the district. Many
of the berries arrive : In the city
after nightfall, when! the berries
are loaded onto trucks, several
hours ride from the Jetty. The
smooth pavement allows growers
to produce a crop many miles from
the cannery.. By the use of trucks
and pneumatic tires the perishable
fruit Is brought here within a very
few moments after it has left' the
