quick and accuratee bearings was
worked out by Lieut. Commander
T. J. Morrow, captain of the
Guide, in his search for soma,
method by which bearings could
be taken without delaying the
ship's charting operations and
which yet would be faster than
radio compass, visual trlaugula
tion or dead reckoning.
He built two radio stations on
San Clemente Island, one on each
end. connecting each with a hydro
phone in the ocean nearby r- WitU
the distance between these hydro
phones known, the Guide hns one?
side of a triangle always ready on
which to base calculations. Uy
noting the time it takes the noise
of a TNT bomb to travel to eacU
of the "listening" hydrophones,
from which It is relayed instantly
back to the ship by radio, the
Guldens navigator can compute in
an Instant the distance of each
hydrophone from the ship, dhus
giving him three sides of a triangle
with which to plot his position.

CHICAGO, May 26. (Bys Asso

between beet grower and miller
contributed 'most of the beet ' su

ed those of all other years by 10.
000,000 pounds, S. II. Love of .Salt
Lake City, president of the United
States Sugar Manufacturers' asso
ciation said today. "The growrr
receives a price for his beets ba

companiesget for their suajar."
said Mr. Loce in reporting at the
annual meeting of the association.
'f This arrangement," he contin
ued, is a step in the right direc-"

hoped to see finally established, I
believe It comes nearer to a real
cooperative marketing plan than
any so far evolved.
"The orderly marketing'of any
product Is considered good busi

is no questioning that It Is then
the farmer should be encouraged
to follow the same procedure and
adopt a scheme of orderly plant

refrain from gambling on tlio
