ples. Prepare as for baked rhu
barb quartering the apples, and
mix with the cubed rhubarb. An
other good suggestion for the use
of rhubarb is in this recipe lor
rhubarb- puffs:
1 cup; flour
1 teaspoon Calumet baking pow
derj 1-4 teaspoon salt
1-4 cup sugar !
1-2 cup milk
2 tablespoons melted fat
1 egg- beaten
. Rhubarb sauce. '

. Combine all the Ingredients ex
cept the 'rhubarb, in the order giv
en, and beat the mixture until it
is smooth Grease individual
molds or cups and into each put
three tablespoons of rhubarb
sauce, and then on tablespoon of
the batterj Steam the puffs for
20 minutes and serve them warm
with cream and sugar or Foamy
sauce. -. '" j
Foamy Sauce - ;
2-3 cup rhubarb sauce
2 egg j whites ;
1 cup ! sugar.
Boil the sugar and juice until
the sirup threads. Pour it over

SILVERTOX, Ore., April 17.
"Kind to AnimaJs" week was ob
served at Silverton this -week
when Chief of Police Gaines prov
ed the fairy godmother to a cow
which had been left in an auto
mobile on the street for Bometlme.
Her head was tied in an uncom
fortable manner. The cow had
been , purchased by . a Portland
man and left in an automobile on
North .Water street at about 10
a. m. . Mr. Gains noted that she
had been standing there for some
time, and then moved her to a
nearby barn where he unloaded
her. The owner returned for the
cow at Z p. m. He failed to ap
preciate the courtesy shown hla
