Dwellings and contests pro vided the heaviest item, 22 of these being burned witn a total loss of $24,135. Six mert-hantl'e buildings were burned, with a loss of $14,350 while five farm dwell ings brought up the total an ad ditional $17,827. One church, at St. Helens, was burned with a loss of $14,000. Rooming houses, dry cleaning establishments, incuba tors and garages caused the re mainder of the loss. Defective and over-heated flues caused the greatest number outside of unde termined, causes, with fire in tha former class. Marion county contributed a garage and smoke house valued at $150 while a dwelling in Amity was placed at $1200. A dwelling and brooder at Dallas was burned with a loss of $60 while Incubators and eggs. valued at $2 500 were also destroyed in Polk county.
