Tracks, to be Extended
Extension on the tracks of the
Southern' Pacific company to the
boiler house and the woodroom ;at
the Salem paper mill will be start
ed soon. The trackB, which run
east and west will be extended 69
feet. on. one track, aad 65 on the
other. In order; to , allow four or
five additional cars to be placed

which the track is being construct

Rails Being Shipped
A shipment of rails for the ex
tension of the Spaulding ; Logging
road into Siletx valley have bees
started from Blackrock. Grading
for the rails has been completed
and the new extension will open
up a large area of country that
was burnt over, but unharmed for

Improvements Are Made "
Tbe Southern Pacific railroad
company has installed a negative
return on the Stat street; circuit
in order to overcome electrosis : on
the line. In order to install the
apparatus necessary for the return
negative it was necessary to dig a
small j trench In the pavement.
However, a gang of men 'quickly
made the' necessary breaking and
the cable was put underground.

Boys 'Are Warned
I Notice has been served upon
drivers of milk wagons by Mrs.
Nona White county Juvenile offic
er, that the practice of using boys
as assistants during BChool hours
must stop. The drivers offer the
boys a few nickles or dimes to
help them , deliver milk, Mrs.
White said yesterday after finding
two youngsters not more than 12
years old playing hookey from
school in order to help the drivers.

gas storage lank of the Portland
Electric Power company arrived
yesterday and is rapidly being un

it is expected that actual construc
