Gen. George A. White, com
mander of the Oregon, national
guard, will arrive in Washington,
D. C., today where he was sum
moned by the United States war
department. He win attend a na
tional defense program to he held
there. Defense in all Its phases
will be' discussed. Allocation, of
funds and troops will be made at
this conference. General White
will obtain equipment for the Ore
gon guard camp, to be established
this summer a few miles from
Medford.

Demand Increases .
The demand for laborers has
taken a high jump during the past
few days, according to reports of
the United States employment ser
vice. For the first day. of this
week 20 workers were sent out on
jobs, the calls coming mostly from
farmers. With the continuation
of pleasant weather the demands
will continue to increase, until the
calls will far exceed the supply.

L. H. McMahan's. court yesterday.

entered a plea of guilty in the
justice court yesterday. Her ex
