Demarest Is Secured for
Salem; Speaks Tonight
At the last monthly meeting
of the Salem Ministerial aseo
:iation. Mr. and Mrs. Agnew
Demarest, . evangeliuts, well
known to Salem people, were
invited to stop off and speak
at the First Methodist church
tonight at 7:30 o'clock.: Mr.
and Mrs. Demarest are on their
way to Eugene where they are
to open an evangelistic ; cam
paign Sunday. ;
Reverend W, W. Iong will
preside and a large part of the
.evangelistic choir will be pres
ent to lead the singing. Mr.
and Mrs. Demarest are bringing
a number of their new song
books and selections from these
will be used in the services.
Mr. and Mrs.. Demarest and
party arrived In Portland yes
terday and rested there for the
day. They will arrive in Salem
this morning at 11:20 o'clock.
The evangelistic choir, is
asked to meet at 6 o'clock at
. the First Methodist church. O.
. J.- Hull is in charge of the ush-
ering and is going to use as
many as possible of the old
ushers of last spring meetings.
An offering will be taken to de
fray .the expenses of. the enter-
, tainment of the party and the
balance will be given to the
evangelists..
Mr. and Mrs. Demarest. have
been busy since last summer
writing and composing. Mrs.
Demarest 'has just published
"Broken Lives" a booklet
which has already drawn the
highest praise. It is not known
what her subject will be to
night, but good music and an
address of inspiration and
courage ar eassured. v

: name given to the baby son of Mr.
j and Mrs. Alvin Hartley born Mon
'day, February 10, at the Salem
hospital. .
