Escapes From Hospital
Georxe Fisher, aged 56 years.
escaped from the state hospital
yesterday. He was wearing a blue

Loses True Friend
. Bob Hall, a paralytic living
south of Salem, lost a true friend
yesterday when someone poisoned
his dog, "Trixle," the only com
panion of the invalid. - Bob and
his dog were inseparable, and it
is with sorroy that he reports the
loss of his friend. '

Salem. . In order to help business,
the city council framed and passed
this ordinance, requiring : among
other things that on' the busy
down town streets a car must not
remain parked iir'one place for
mora than one hour. That' seems
the proper thing. It Is designed
to curb the selfishness of the parav
ine hoe. who puts his car In iront
of a place of business and leaves
it there, regardless of the rights
of other people (-especially of the
rights of those who want to drive
un and do i business there. But
no general law. can be administer
ed, however, just oh the whole,
that does not injure some one. On
Wednesday afternoon a man from
the country drove into Salem 'and
parked his car" Jnear the foot of
a ' stairway leading to a doctor a"
office. The; man was sick. His
wife was with him. But the, doctor
as busy. " There was a waiting
crowd. The sick man - with the
parked car had o await his turn.
It was a few minutes over ine
hour, not to exceed ten minutes,
when the sick- man finally got
back to hia carand It was tag
ged by a traffic policeman. So. the
sick man and his wife had to go
