Of the 564 accidents 469 were subject to the provisions of the compensation act, 94 were from firms and cor porations rejecting; the provisions of, the act and one from a public utility: not subject to the provi sion of the act. Lewis. : The Veterans of For eign Wars, who created the emer gency employment bureau, are conducting a campaign to secure ex-service men' places of work. Several hare been placed in jobs. Music by Thomas Brothers' Moonlight Ser enaders. d20 Stage Makes Good Tim Stage ' service between Grants Pass and Salem has been main tained without a break in the schedule, according to the reports from the Terminal stage depot. The Portland stages, however, are from three to ten minutes late on account of the care exercised by the drivers 'during the recent freeze. Drivers also experience difficulty in getting their motors running in the early morning, and as a result several of the morning stages were somewhat late in get ting started. The tiny needle valve of the mechanism becomes coated with water, which freezes. Con sequently the gas is kept from passing into the mixing chamber, and the motor fails to perform. Numerous cases - were reported yesterday, and . the conclusion drawn from, the experiences , ' is that the gas is mixed with water. Owners of the cars suffered con siderable inconvenience before the difficulty was solved. TRIBUTE IS Pi TO JUDGE BINGHAM Late Marion Circuit Judge Honored By County Bar Association Friday Tribute was paid to the memory of the late' George G. Bingham, circuit judge, Friday, by the Mar lon County Bar association, when they accepted resolutions framed by a special committee. The resolutions recited the storyof Judge Bingham's life and touched upon his personal charac teristics. , . "A dominant element and note that ran through Judge, Bingham's whole life was his love of nature," states the resolutions in part. "He loved his summer home on the sea shore at Neskowin and took pride in the fact that much of its struc ture and domestic comforts were j the handiwork o his own hands. He kept his bodyf physically fit all his life. . . . While his life was one of great industry and close application to business, yet he was a companionable man -and of ami able disposition, "His high professional attain ments, industry and ability to dis patch litigation broaght to him fre quent assignments to duty in out side districts and he became re spected as At lawyer and a judge throughout the state by reason of such frequent sittings in outside districts. . . It may be said of him with utmost candor that he was a gentleman, a good citizen, a loyal friend, a devoted husband and father, a good lawyer and a righteous judge. His ideals were high 'and his life work now done will stand as an inspiration for those of us who come after."
