This firm is one of the oldest retail stores In the city of Salem and has been
established for forty-two years, and during that time has built up an enviable
reputation for fair and honest business dealings, selling only quality merchan
dise at reasonable prices. Our lease has expired and we are forced to vacate
our present location. We are not making this move as a matter of choice, but
the bank building In which we are located Is going to be occupied by the bank.
Therefore, we cannot renew our lease. We have Just closed a new lease on a
store-room at 469 State Street, which will be our new location on January 1st.
This sale Is being put on for a legitimate reason and purpose. We do not expect
to make any money during this sale and no doubt will stand a loss of a few thou
sand dollars, but regardless of that we want to enter our new store with a
complete new stock oi merchandise. Therefore, these drastic reductions during
