the critics as one of the greatest
civil-war-time stories that has ever

Miss Vidor is also the feminine
lead in "The Virginian." with Ken
neth Harlan playing opposite. This
appearance of "The Virginian" at
the Liberty theater is the second

ter story in Salem, During its

KILVr:iTO. Nov. 20 (Special
to The Statesman.) Kxoitement
has been at top pitch among the
high school students and their sup
porters during the past week. ,A
short pep rally has been featured
each morning at assembly. Yells
and songs were featured Monday
morning. Tuesday the high school
raculty debated the question of
whether Silverton will make more
noise at thi Woodburn-Silverion
game Friday afternoon than Wood
burn will. , "
Wednesday the football boys
put on a skit, dressing in the well
known spinster costumes. Dwight
Kireher personified the chairman
of an old maid convention. Ron
ald JIubbs as Miss Perkins told
"Why Hate Men?" Milston Bris
tol was Miss Sarah Togo Ships,
and spoke on the question "What
is the World Coming To?" PauV
Blazer as Miss Eliza Jane, dis
coursed on the "Evils of Bobbed
Hair." 1
Thursday morning assembly was
given over to singing and high
school yells. .Thursday noon the
student body financed a luncheon
at the Cozy for the football boys.

cal clash in football will be staged

AGGIES TO HAVE
BREAK ON U OF 0
El'GENE, Or., Nov, 20. When
the Oregon Aggies and the Uni
versity of Oreeon football teams
clash on Bell field in Corvallis
Saturday,, the Oregon Aggies will
hav6 had the advantage of a two
weeks' rest period. Oregon on
the other hand has been going
straight through a period of seven
hard contests without a breathing
apell.
The game will be the 28th be
tween the rivals. Of the 27 games

the Aggies 5. Six resulted in tie
scores.
BEARCATS TO MEET
PACIFIC SATURDAY
The big "little" game of - Ore
gon Saturday will be staged at
Forest Grove, when Willamette
and Pacific universities tangle in
their annual battle. While Oregon
and O. A. C. contest for he state
championship, these two small
schools will struggle to determine
their own championship, and a
great deal of interest is aroused
as to who will come out the vic
tor. According to the dope, the two
schools are quite evenly matched,
although Pacific is conceded an
advantage due to the fact that the
Badgers won from both College
nf Idaho and Colleee, of Puget
Sound, while Willamette was de
feated by both schools in close
contests. On a dry field, the Bear
pats stand at least an even chance
of Winning. The game will de
termine the cellar championsnip
of the northwest conference.
A larca number of Willamette
students will attend the game to
support the team. The game Is
the feature of Pacifi's annual
homecoming.
