the proposed Independent-Progressive
party, which will support La
Follette in this state, can use the
name it has chosen, and Secretary

Attorney General Van Winkle for

der the Oregon law there is a
question whether it can apply to
any other than a strictly indepen
dent candidate, and one who is
not seeking office in connection
with any political organization.' It
may be desided that the secretary
of state has not within his prov
ince the rignt ; to question the
party name, ff the latter Opinion
is held there is a possibility, it is
said, that injunction -proceedings
may be instituted to prevent the
new organization from using the
